HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR DIVING MASK

04/17/2024

Dive masks are one of those pieces of equipment that don't cost too much. Therefore, many times it is better to have your own before diving for the first time, Whether it is a discover scuba diving, the beginning of our scuba course or just a snorkeling trip with friends.

Many of us know from experience how annoying it can be to be doing a dive and that our mask does not stop filling with water. Having planned a perfect trip for months and when the time to enjoy beautiful fish and corals annoys us the constant trickle of water getting into our viewfinder.

Of course, for many it results in good practice, almost turning them into specialists in mask cleaning.

But how much more comfortable is it to have the mask that fits perfectly, right?

The ideal mask is usually for many the one that agrees with the color of its fins, for others the one that makes the eyes look more beautiful. But the truth is that the perfect mask is the one that gently adjusts to our face, preventing water from leaking.

In terms of brands, prices and models, with so much variety on the market, I could spend hours describing them one by one. But simply you will see that you must choose between black silicone (more durable and with less light reflection) or clear silicone (which makes your face look better in the photos). There are them with a single glass, which gives you more vision, double glass which are suitable for prescribing them, with multiple lens, the new frameless and ofcourse the classic mask.

Once you decide on these basics go to your nearby dive shop and try them on.

Buying diving masks without trying them can make you spend money on something that is useless to you.

To know that the mask you have chosen fits your face correctly and can be the right one, you can do a simple test:

1) you must place it on your face (without putting the strap on)

2) gently inhale through your nose while holding the mask with just two fingers on the upper frame
3) release it. but continue to gently hold your breath.

If the mask remains on your face, we can say that we have already found our perfect diving partner.

Now yes, you are ready to plan your next adventure
